This series follows America Singer as she competes against 34 other girls to become the next princess and marry the prince of Illea.
The world was we know it has changed. In Illea there are now caste systems. BUT there is a way to become the highest caste in the land. That is The Selection. Where 35 young girls from each region and from all castes. American Singer is a level five. Her and her family are artists and musicians. Money is always short and her parents dream of a better life for her. But all that changes when the letter comes in the mail. A 1 in a million chance to be selected to marry the prince. At first America does not want to do, but her mother bribes her. Once she is selected her life changes and nothing is ever the same again.
I found this story through a friend of mine. She spent all night reading it. I read it in 3 hours. While you can guess sometimes what is going to happen, you cannot guess how it will happen. And that is what makes this a great story. America does her hardest to not let her new fame change who she is. And that is a great theme for young girls to read about. This isn't your classic love story!
